ABOUT THE GARDEN

The Hale Y Community Garden is local community garden in Blacksburg, Va devoted to local food growing.  Monthly potlucks, educational programs, delicious food, and great friends await anyone interested in food!

The land, generously donated for use by Arlean Lambert, hosts over 70 garden plots, the Roper Solar Greenhouse, a picnic shelter, an outdoor stove, an herb garden, bee hives, and much more. Click on the tabs to learn more about the Hale Y Community Garden.

Sunday, October 7  Blacksburg Sustainability Week Garden Tour  4 – 6 p.m. design your own tour around the garden.  Our experts will be posted around the site to talk with you about community plots, beekeeping, solar drying, the Roper Solar Greenhouse, our food forest and the garden composting system.  At 6 p.m. we will have the final potluck of the season.  Bring a dish to share along with your own plate and utensils.  We’ll supply the water and tea.
